How to Change a Projector Lamp
Replacing a lamp is normally a straight forward process that was designed for end users to be able to do themselves. Always ensure your projector is turned off and power cords are unplugged. There will be a lamp cover located on your projector or rear projection television that typically has 2 or 3 screws holding it in place. Your manual will indicate where this is located if you can’t see it from looking over your projector or rear projection television. You need to undo these screws and take the lamp cover off to get to the lamp. The lamp base will also be held in place in your projector by screws. Your manual will indicate which screws you need to undo in order to slide your lamp out. Your lamp will slide out in one piece. At this point it is the best time to check and replace or clean your filter in your projector. If you can see any dust then it is recommended that you very gently vacuum it out with the nozzle of your vacuum trying not to let the nozzle touch anything. You would then slot your new lamp in and do up the screws that hold it in place. Then you will need to place the lamp cover back on and screw it down. Nearly all projectors and rear projection televisions will require you to reset the lamp hours when you install a new lamp. The process of resetting hours on a projector or a rear projection television does vary between the different manufacturers. Instructions on how to re set the hours will be in the product manual that came with your projector or rear projection television. If you do not still have the manual you can normally always find how to do it by searching the brand of your projector or rear projection television and the model online.
